With a myriad of information out there, we've put together a simple list of our "Top 10 must-dos" while in Rotorua.

  1. Lake Rotorua is the second largest lake in the North Island by surface area. Enjoy stunning scenery along with many water-based activities.
  2. Rainbow Springs Nature Park is a must for anyone wanting to get up close to New Zealand’s unique flora and fauna. The entire experience is built around New Zealand’s largest and most successful kiwi conservation centre.
  3. Skyline Rotorua complex is just minutes from the Hotel. View stunning scenery from your uphill Gondola ride, then thrill in a 'downhill Luge' or other exciting activities. Time for a break? Enjoy something to eat and drink at Stratosfare Restaurant & Bar.
  4. Get up close to New Zealand's culture with a visit to Mitai Maori Village. Be enthralled by the natural bush setting, see warriors in traditional dress paddle an ancient warrior canoe (waka) down the Wai-o-whiro stream plus a chance to see glow-worms!
  5. Unwind in the thermal hot pools at Polynesian Spa, where local Māori acclaimed the therapeutic benefits of the water and bathed for centuries in the acidic pool 'Te Pupunitanga', now called Priest’s Bath.
  6. Explore the majesty of the Whakarewarewa Forest- most well known for the network of superb mountain biking and walking tracks and for the magnificent stand of Californian Coast Redwoods.
  7. A little hidden gem well worth visiting is The Buried Village- New Zealand's most visited Archaeological Site, where stories of the 1886 Mt Tarawera Eruption come to life. Te Wairoa survived for fewer than 40 years before it, and the nearby Pink and White Terraces were obliterated by the eruption of Mt Tarawera.
  8. The Government Gardens is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Rotorua and is only minutes walk from the central inner city. Plentiful seating gives you the opportunity to take in the views of this historic site.
  9. Kuirau Park, in the heart of Rotorua is New Zealand’s only geothermal public park and features beautiful gardens, a crater lake, mud pools, hot springs, free thermal foot baths plus much more.
  10. For something a little different, Canopy Tours will take you on a 3 hour forest adventure. With classic Kiwi guides and small groups this is a perfect combo of excitement and nature.
